Maybe some of you will know what I am talking about, a lot will perhaps not.
Regardless, whenever I pvp, my heart starts racing so much that I simply... Freeze... I am unable to focus on anything and I perform so many mistakes. As you can see by my killboard it is pretty obvious
However, anyone who have had this, how did you learn to ignore it? I am wondering because I am very much interested in trying out pvp, but this sort of gets in the way.

-Celthric So... like your capsuleer, you also must be properly "medicated". There are many legal and illegal remedies for a case of the nerves. Experiment with a few every now and then... heh. I've never tried, but I 'm sure my physician would look at me a bit suspiciously if I told him I needed something to keep my nerves steady and my mind alert while I'm flying my destroyers in New Eden. Actually, it is exactly what most have already passed on to you in this thread. However, I can add a bit more... Experience is the mechanism... knowledge is the cure. KEEP FLYING! KEEP LEARNING!
Not gonna take drugs because of a game ;) |

I found getting hammered and attacking battleships with a frigate helps to get the initial hebejebes out.
When you're balls deep with a ship you have no business even thinking about tackling , never mind killing and actually making progress you kinda pull your **** together just in case you manage to pull it off.
Hopefully you never truly shake them off though, this is the only game that I have ever gotten them from and it keeps me coming back.
Wouldn't mind losing the shake as my mind goes completely blank. Last time I tried I lost all focus on ranges, my speed and having enemy drones on me (I was in a frigate) I panic'd even more and burned out my mwd to get out of range. |

Seriously, fly cheaper ships. Pvp more.
I have flown cheap ships. The shakes I refer to is my heart is pounding so hard that it becomes a distraction which inables me to focus. Fight or flight mechanic I guess, in which my brain naturally chooses flight.

Yeah, the freeze up part is what's killing me in pvp. I guess I just got to try someplace where solo pvp is more common and hope for the best. I have occasionally run into solo pvpers in Huola FW.
I just wish there were more pvp guides. I've found a bunch but most of them only cover the very basics.

Mate we are like living in the golden age of pvp guides with all the **** that is getting published on youtube.
And yet nobody explains what to do in certain situations. |

Tried it out and was nearly oneshotted 50% hull by a artillery Trasher, and later oneshotted by a Hecate alongside a Svipul. Fit is aprox. 8 mil atm. Still trying it out. |

What to do against Artillery Svipuls and other Tactical Destroyers? Is it possible to kill those in t1 frigates cause I am getting ultimatively owned by them atm...? |

The only people I know who fly arty svipuls have links and snakes and do 7500 m/s in prop mode with heat. Don't fight T3D's in a T1 frigate. There are some exceptions where range control opens up options, but Svipuls are generally bad news unless you are another Svipul or a blob. Look for other T1 frigates to fight, and fights where they are the scissors to your rock i.e. brawler warping in on your kiter or vice versa. If you think you can put yourself at an engagement range that is a problem for their fit, it's worth a try. With that in mind, the shield kite Tristan is also a VERY solid choice for solo. Throw some neuts on it with a cap booster and you can also nuke cap dependent brawlers. Basically, look into the variously Tristan fits. That ship is the god of T1 hulls.
Alright, thanks. I will look into the Tristan. However, as I am completely new to pvp I have no idea where to find pvp... So far I've only checked out Amarr - Minmatar FW space where all you can find is tactical destroyers nothing else. |

So far, i've only found the adrenaline rush annoying :/
Filatov Teg wrote: I don't remember to have some "freezing", but I'm sure such pressure and adrenalin could make me mistake or slow my decision. I have now downloaded fraps and record whenever I fight something, so good idea.
Filatov Teg wrote: Ho and another physical tips against adrenalin: Breathing during the fight and get empty bladder before the fight ;) All good tips you could get on internet about people having to talk in front of croud could be usefull too.
I have watched, and continously watch a lot of solo pvp vids, but the majority of them don't quite explain key things such as spiraling, neuting, slingshotting etc.

After losing 10x Tormentors over the past few days, I have learned quite a few things.
1. The thing is to never ever fight a Blaster Comet when flying a frigate, those things oneshot you up close, and staying out of range is easier said than done with an AB fit. 2. Svipuls, Svipuls everywhere! 3. Beam has the worst tracking ever, and Slicers and Firetails will murder you.
Atleast I got 1 kill on a Firetail whilst using pulse lasers. Yay...
Let's see what happens now. |

Let's see what happens now. 1. Comets stronk. Anyways looking you up I see you tried fighting stuff that likes to crush t1 frigs to a pulp. Try the cal/gal wz if you want more t1 frigs to fight. 2. Yes that is true. 3. Have you tried over heating? From my experience with the beam tormentor they handle like a rail comet.
1. I will try that out, thanks. 3. Yes, I overheat guns.
I have tried recording a bunch of my fights, but I don't seem quite to get anything from it.

Tipa Riot wrote:Celthric Kanerian wrote:What to do against Artillery Svipuls and other Tactical Destroyers? Is it possible to kill those in t1 frigates cause I am getting ultimatively owned by them atm...? Possible but very unlikely ... so don't engage. How do you get in a fight? Are you waiting in a plex for somebody to enter or do you activily seeking for targets? The most important part of solo PvP is that you are in control of where, when and what you fight. So I used to fly an Executioner with pulse, AB/MWD (depending on target), scram, web, anc. repper, (probes) and a cheap 3% damage imp. While roaming I'm looking for ships I can take, this usually involves getting intel about buddies, age/expierience and on the recent fits of the potential victim and if necessary do a refit, then pre-overheat everything except prop mod and engage ... for example there was that blaster Merlin I scram-kited with AB, that could not land a single hit on me. I went in, lock, keep at range 7500 (pre-defined default), AB on, scram/web, guns blazing ... Learn what your ship/fits can take (theory 20%, just experimenting 80%), select the right target, right strategy (e.g. scram-kiting), and go all in ... take your time preparing a fight, think through the steps, what modules to activate, overheat(!), never let the other gain control of the situation.
I usually wait around in plexes until someone arrives. I do pvp in Bleaked Lands region, where meeting players isn't that common. Took me 30 mins to get a fight at one point.
The biggest trouble I have with blaster ships, is that inorder to get my scramb on them, I need to be within 10 km, but that also allows the enemy to "usually" double web me, which results in me dying, as I only use AB fits atm.
Been thinking about making a fit with point instead, is it may keep things a little more simple with that extra range.
Why don't people use point? |

-Celthric It's like anything that gets your heart racing, keep doing it & that will dissipate over time. The reason this happens in EVE as opposed to almost any other game is because everything you have on you at the time is at risk, whereas if you pvp in a game like wow or swtor you lose nothing.
Same thing would happen back in the day when I played WoW. Generally I have no idea why I get it, the ships I pvp'd with were only worth a few mil.
Also I think I am gonna stop solo pvp as the new Navy Maulus will be way too overpowered. |

I have only been using Tormentors and Imperial Navy Slicers, so it is not because I care about losing the ship. |

That I know, and I do not give a crap about losing my ships, I can afford hundreds of them.
After a while it has gotten a bit better... Now I simply get angry cause some fights doesn't make any sense. I made absolutely no sense. I near flipped from that fight. |

I still don't understand that transversal stuff completely, the math formula for it is a headache.
I have been thinking about looking into using a Arbitrator for some pvping, however it is a 9-10 million killmail for ship alone compared to my current 7 millon for ship + fitting. |
